FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDRB) — Matt Bevin has been sworn in as Kentucky’s 62nd governor.
He was sworn in at midnight Tuesday in a small, private ceremony.
Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton also took the oath of office, becoming the first African-American ever to hold statewide office in Kentucky.
Gov. Bevin issued a challenge to his cabinet members after he was sworn in.
“I would challenge each of you please, in the days, the weeks and the months ahead, to continue to be as excited as you are now, as bold as you are now, and pray as hard as you have prayed to this point,” Bevin said. “We need your prayers. The commonwealth needs your prayers. My wife and I, and my family, we need your prayers. And I would be grateful for your continued support of us.”
Several events are planned in honor of Bevin’s inauguration.
